Christina Lerch

LMHC

Sad? Stressed? Overwhelmed? Relationship conflicts? Life not going the way you planned? Feeling hopeless? Feeling alone? No one understands? I believe that most of our struggles start with our wounds. We are all wounded. We will walk down the path to recovery together. We will focus on your strengths, not your failures. A compassionate ear without judgment is what you can expect. An understanding environment is what you will experience. I offer an eclectic and individualized approach. No two therapy sessions are exactly alike.

Christina holds her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA.  Before becoming a psychotherapist, Christina sported careers in Occupational Therapy and Special Education.  She has worked with many populations but what makes her unique is her life experiences.  This gives Christina that special perspective which adds to her compassion, empathy, and willingness to go that extra mile in the lives of those she works with.  Christina likens her position to a ‘tour guide;’ helping others navigate the many paths that present themselves, to choose the path that leads to healing and a sense of wholeness.

Christina has lead groups in grief, addiction, autism-spectrum disorders, social/communication skills, conflict resolution, problem-solving skills, fibromyalgia, and cognitive restructuring.  She has lead groups for clients as well as client’s families.  She has helped couples, children/teens and families going through custody battles, those suffering from anxieties/worries, depression, low self-esteem, and parenting techniques.  Christina believes there is nothing too difficult to approach; suicidal ideation, infidelity, even spiritual struggles: anger, questions or doubts, why God may seem distant or why He allows things to happen as they do.

Christina is a Christian first, a counselor second.  She enjoys integrating Christianity with ‘science;’ Christianity with ‘psychoeducation;’ Christianity and life in our currently chaotic world.  She has worked with such conditions as: depression/mood disorders; addictions; abuse/trauma; divorce/grief/loss; personality disorders; impulse control/ADHD/ADD; autism-spectrum disorders; fibromyalgia and it’s mental/physical/social tolls; anxieties/phobias; adjustment disorders; thought disorders/ relationship and co-dependency issues; and custody concerns.  Ages include those from childhood through the more well-matured individual.

Scriptures put it best:  “faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” . . . “for in hope, we were saved . . if we hope for what we do not see, we wait with endurance” . . . “affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope” (Heb 11:1; Rom 8:25; Rom 5:3,4)
